HTM wants all their passengers to reach their destination safely to have a pleasant journey. Consequently there are a number of rules that apply in all the vehicles and some of the stops. These rules are specified on posters and stickers and can be clearly recognised by their circular shape and striking colour.

It is compulsory to have a valid ticket. Travellers using an OV-chipkaart must check in at the start of their journey with HTM and check out at the end of their journey by holding their card in front of the OV-chipkaart reader. You must present proof of identity to a ticket inspector on request. |

One-way tickets are sold for cash in trams and buses. Please pay with the exact amount if possible. For reasons of safety, the driver has little or no change and does not accept notes of 50 euros or higher. |

The HTM vehicles and some stops are equipped with cameras. These are always identified by a sticker with a camera symbol. The images are recorded and the driver does not have access to the recording equipment. This camera surveillance has been registered with the CBP in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act. |

A number of seats are reserved in each vehicle for the disabled or elderly and for pregnant women. The seats are clearly identified with a sticker. |

Smoking, eating and drinking are not permitted in any of the vehicles and some of the stops, such as in the tram tunnel. |

It is not permitted to create a noise nuisance. Talking on your mobile, listening to music or talking loudly can be annoying to other passengers. |

Dogs are permitted in all vehicles but must be on a lead and must not sit on the seats. The dog must have a valid ticket unless it is small enough to sit on your lap or to fit into a small bag. |

It is not permitted to use inline skates, skateboards or similar items in buses or trams. |

BUS: A bus has a designated space (identified by a sticker) for a maximum of one wheelchair or two walking frames or buggies. Passengers with a wheelchair or walking frame have priority. RANDSTADRAIL (RR): An RR vehicle has a designated space (identified by a sticker) for a maximum of one wheelchair, three walking frames or one bicycle. It is compulsory to use the safety belt.
