When travelling with HTM you must use your student OV-chipkaart to check in and check out of the tram, bus and RandstadRail, both when you have a right to free travel and when you do not. Naturally, the cost of travel (at a reduced rate) will only be charged during periods when you are not eligible for free travel.
You will no longer be able to check in or out if the balance on your student OV-chipkaart is negative, even during periods when you are entitled to free travel. You must top up your student OV-chipkaart to ensure the balance is a minimum of 0 euros to be able to use it again with HTM.

This student travel product is part of your student grant. If you are eligible for a student grant, you are also eligible for this student travel product which will enable you to travel in the bus, tram, metro and train for free or at a reduce rate.
